I thought I was getting more than I got

The way this is priced and described, I thought I was getting more than I paid for. I do like the checklist for what it is - good items for thinking and discussion! But it is one checklist for each age group in the pamphlet, that's basically it, and there's lots of overlap between the checklists for different age groups, and I thought for the price and description it'd be more than it was.

I'll take that onboard and have a think about how to make this resource better value. Maybe some training around how to share values with children, and how they fit into our sex-ed convesations! Let me know if there is anything in particular that you'd like to see! Thanks, Cath

Sexual values!

In our days, kids are exposed to different sources where they can learn about sex. This has been a real concern for me as a mom. I want to instill in my kids my family's values when it comes to sex! As a parent, we need to be clear about what are our culture's in general and family's in particular sexual values and beliefs. Thanks Cath, this has been amazing!

It's nice to be prepared!

This is just what I needed - the values I need to think about for where my children are at now!

Helped resolve conflict

I bought this because my husband and I were disagreeing about sex education. It helped us both sit down and really think about what our values were, and together decide which ones to share with our kiddos!

Frequently asked Questions

Which set do I buy?

That's up to you!

Definitely grab the one that is for the current age of your child. And it may also be a good idea to grab the next age group, so you are prepared for what's coming up.

Or buy more all of them and save!

But what if I am Catholic or LDS or Muslim or…?

It doesn’t matter what your beliefs are as these WorkBooks will help you to explore your values, regardless of your religion. The WorkBooks will also help you to work out which values to share with your child.

Why have you split them up into different age groups?

I have split them up into different age groups as I don't want you to feel overwhelmed.

The values you may share with a 3 year old are vastly different to what you might share with a 13 year old. And honestly, you don't need to be thinking about contraception and whether your child can have sex at home (or not) until it's actually relevant.

So separating the values into different age groups means you can focus on what matters now! Instead of worrying about things that aren't even on the radar!

Are my kids too young?

The Sexual Values WorkBooks are written for children aged 0 and over, and is broken down into 6 different age groups: babies and toddlers, 3-5 years, 6-8 years, 9-11 years, 12-14 years and 15-18 years.

So the values will be relevant to the age and stage of sexual development.
